how-do-you-do there, i just purchased a 2001 Contrivance Ram 3500 SLT Laramie Cummins 24 Valve Turbo Diesel. Its a 6 Speed Manual Manual truck. The seller told me its a High OutPut Diesel engine. Is it true that in 2001 All 6 Speed Transmissions Diesel Trucks had a High OutPut Diesel fuel Cummins Motor? The motor itself has the Black Valve Cover that says 24 Valve Turbo Diesel fuel. Any communication / Info would exist Greatly Appreciated ! __________________

There were 6 speeds in 99-2000 but they had a smaller i 3/8" input shaft - remainder assured, you got the large boy (1.5" input shaft). If yous accept your VIN to your dealer they should exist able to print out a build sheet that includes a listing of all options and recalls etc. Btw, welcome. AND readup on fuel pressure guages and become yourself one. An absolute necessity with a 24V. __________________

I have a 2000 Regular Cab 6 speed truck and I went through the same thing. Not all 6 speed tranny trucks were H.O.'south, simply all H.O. trucks came with a 6 speed tranny. My truck is not a high output engine. It is what Contrivance calls a base diesel fuel. The half dozen speed was just an selection started by Dodge in 2000. My understanding is if your valve cover is blackness it's a base diesel, reddish and information technology'south a high output. If you desire to know for certain check the VIN number. If the eigth digit is a "6" you have a base diesel fuel. If information technology is a "7" it's a high output diesel. I think the H.O.'s are rated at ten or 15 more horsepower making information technology around 245 or 250. Don't mind to what whatsoever used automobile salesman or Dodge service technician tries to tell you. I argued with my salesman and a tech for a week untill they assured me my truck was an H.O. After I got it abode and did some indepth enquiry, guess what???...base diesel!!! __________________

No manner....valve encompass color doesnt mean anything. My valve cover is black and I definitely accept an 01 H.O. with a 6 speed. SO'south with the speed were phased out in 01 and the new 6 speed (1.5" shaft) was phased in. Ill say again, if you have an 01 with the 6 speed, so you accept a HO engine. The Reddish valve comprehend is simply an option yous can purchase. __________________

The Eight digit in my VIN is a " vii " and then I remember its a high output simply...tomorrow i am running over to the Dodge Dealer to solve the mystry ! I retrieve 99.9% its a H.O __________________

ho is 245hp and 505trq..then is 235hp and 460trq likewise the ho has a different head, turbo and injec pump __________________

Why not look at the tag on the engine that says "advertised hp:_____" That should tell you right away. Information technology is on the front of the engine, on the drivers side. It's silver, and is well-nigh 1" wide past v" high. Lettering runs from bottom to top (tag is mounted sideways). __________________
